Garrett Richards (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will be making his second start of the season after getting injured after 4 2/3 innings of work on April 5. He did not allow a run on three hits with four strikeouts and one walk in a 5-0 win at the Athletics. Kendall Graveman (4-4, 4.54) draws the start for the Athletics. He has a 1.42 WHIP and 56 strikeouts over 79 1/3 innings. He allowed five earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts and three walks in five innings in a 10-8 loss at the Angels his last start.

Los Angeles is 71-67 overall and 33-36 on the road, while Oakland is 58-79 and 37-32 at home. The Angles have won six of the last 10 meetings and the total has gone over six times.

In the series opener Monday, Los Angeles posted an 11-9 victory in 12 innings. The Angels used an AL record 12 pitchers in the game, with Fernando Salas earning the win in relief. Luis Valbuena hit a home run, scored twice and drove in three. Martin Maldonado hit a pair of home runs and drove in three. Kole Calhoun was 3-for-5 with a triple, a run and two RBIs. Albert Pujols was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Andrelton Simmons went 2-for-6 with a double and two runs. Blake Treinen took the loss in relief for the Athletics. Matt Olson hit two home runs and drove in three. Matt Joyce was 2-for-5 with a run. Khris Davis finished 2-for-6 with a double, a run and three RBIs. Bruce Maxwell went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run and an RBI.

Bet on Angels vs. Athletics

Richards will probably be on a strict pitch count, but he’ll likely give Los Angeles solid innings while he is out there. The Angels bullpen would seem to be depleted after using so many pitchers Monday, but a lot of them didn’t throw a lot of pitches and September allows for a seemingly endless supply of arms. Graveman was hit hard by the Angels his last start and it very well could happen again.
