Dan Straily (7-8, 3.80 ERA) gets the start for the Marlins, while the Phillies will go with Aaron Nola (9-8, 3.26). Straily has not worked past the sixth inning in his last seven starts and has seen his ERA rise from 3.31 in that time. The Marlins have lost all seven of those starts. He has been better recently, allowing a total of nine earned runs over his last 22 1/3 innings. Nola is coming off his worst start of the season, allowing five earned runs on seven hits over five innings in a 5-4 loss at the Giants. Prior to that, he had not allowed more than two earned runs in a start in his previous 10 starts. He carries a 1.18 WHIP on the season.
Miami comes in with a 60-62 record and is 28-33 on the road, while Philadelphia is 45-77 and 24-31 at home. The season series is tied 4-4 and the total has gone over in five of the games.
The Marlins won two out of three at the Mets, including Sunday’s 6-4 victory as Adam Conley threw seven innings of one-run ball with 11 strikeouts. Giancarlo Stanton hit his 45th home run of the season, while Christian Yelich had three hits with a run and two RBIs. Dee Gordon added two hits and three runs. Brad Ziegler recorded his eighth save of the season. The Phillies won their last two games in San Francisco, including Sunday’s 5-2 win. Rhys Hoskins hit a home run and had two hits to lead the way. Maikel Franco, Nick Williams and Pedro Florimon each had two hits. Florimon contributed three RBIs including the go-ahead two-run single in the eighth. Adam Morgan picked up the win in relief, while Hector Neris picked up his 15th save.
The wind is blowing out to right-center field at approximately 14 MPH for this game. It’s already a ballpark that sides toward offense, while Straily has been hittable of late and Nola wasn’t very good in his last start versus a weak offense. Expect some balls to fly out of the yard and this game to go over the 8.5 runs.
