On the mound for the Braves will be Max Fried (0-0 5.40 ERA), while the Cubs are going with Mike Montgomery (5-6, 3.29). The left-handed Fried has appeared in four games, all out of the bullpen. He carries a 1.95 WHIP with four strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. His longest outing was a 52-pitch performance August 16 where he allowed three earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts and three walks over two innings in a 17-2 loss at Colorado. Montgomery has a 1.24 WHIP with 85 strikeouts over 109 1/3 innings. He has given up a total of one run over 13 innings in his last two starts, a 9-3 win at the Reds and a 6-1 home triumph over the Pirates.

Atlanta is 59-75 and 30-39 on the road, while Chicago comes in at 75-60 and 40-28 at home. The Cubs have won six straight games over the Braves, the entirety of the season series. The over-under is 3-3.

Saturday’s game was a 14-12 shootout won by Chicago. Rene Rivera was 2-for-5 with a grand slam and two runs scored to lead the way. Matt Kemp finished 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Nick Markakis was 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run and two RBIs. Kurt Suzuki finished 2-for-5 with a run and two RBIs. Dansby Swanson was 3-for-5 including a double. Rio Ruiz added a solo home run. Lucas Sims gave up seven earned runs over three innings to take the loss.

Bet on Braves vs. Cubs

The only thinking that should be done here is whether you should take the Cubs on the moneyline or the run line. They are way too hot right now, still at home and have the much better starting pitcher on the mound.
