Will historic Indians run streak to 22 vs. Royals? MLB Predictions 9/14/17

Royals vs. Indians Pick

The host Cleveland Indians will look to extend their American League-record win streak to 22 games Thursday night against the Kansas City Royals. Game time is 7:10PM EST.

Oddsmakers at sports book Bovada.lv have set the Indians as a -190 favorite to win on the moneyline. The Royals are a +165 underdog and the over-under is 9.

The Royals will put Jake Junis (7-2, 4.34 ERA) on the mound and the Indians will counter with Josh Tomlin (9-9, 5.13). Junis has a 1.31 WHIP with 67 strikeouts in 74 1/3 innings. He gave up one earned run on seven hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over 6 1/3 innings in a 5-2 home win over the Twins. He has a 5.25 ERA in 36 road innings this year. Tomlin comes in with a 1.27 WHIP with 91 strikeouts in 121 innings. He surrendered two earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and no walks in five innings his last start, a 4-2 home win over the Orioles. Tomlin has a 5.54 ERA in 12 home starts.

Cleveland is in the midst of a 21-game winning streak, breaking the AL record Wednesday with a 5-3 home win over the Tigers. The Indians now hold a 90-56 record and are 42-29 at home. The Royals are 72-73 overall and 33-37 on the road. Cleveland has won seven out of the last 10 meetings and the total is 5-5.

Kansas City lost two out of three at home to the White Sox including a 5-3 decision Wednesday. Lorenzo Cain was 2-for-4, while Salvador Perez went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs. Alcides Escobar finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Scott Alexander took the loss in relief. Cleveland scored three in the first versus Detroit to take control and extend the winning streak to 21. Jay Bruce hit a three-run first inning homer to key the offense. Francisco Lindor was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Jose Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs. Mike Clevinger allowed three runs (one earned) over 5 2/3 innings to earn the win. Chad Allen picked up his 27th save.
