Ariel Miranda (8-6, 4.62 ERA) will get the start for Seattle, while Baltimore turns to Ubaldo Jimenez (5-9, 6.57). Miranda has a 1.20 ERA with 123 strikeouts in 146 innings. He has a 5.77 road ERA in 14 starts. In his last start, Miranda threw 4 2/3 shutout innings in a 2-1 win at the Yankees as he gave up two hits while striking out three and walking four. Jimenez has a 1.58 WHIP with 117 strikeouts in 126 innings. He has a 6.83 ERA at home in 11 appearances (10 starts).
Seattle comes in at 66-67 and is 32-35 away from home, while Baltimore is 67-65 and 40-26 at home. The Orioles have won three out of five in the season series after Tuesday’s 4-0 win. The total has gone over in three games.
On Tuesday, Dylan Bundy was spectacular as he allowed only one bunt single in a complete-game shutout, striking out 12. It was the sixth straight win for Baltimore. Manny Machado hit two solo home runs to lead the offense, while Jonathan Schoop and Wellington Castillo each hit a solo home run as well. Adam Jones added a single and a double. Erasmo Ramirez took the loss as he gave up two earned runs over six innings. Kyle Seager had the lone hit.
It’s hard to trust either pitcher in this matchup, but the Mariners offense is struggling and Jimenez is capable of turning a very good outing every once in a while. Take the Orioles to extend the winning streak while they are clicking on all cylinders.
