The Royals have Edinson Volquez (1-2, 4.37 ERA) on the mound tonight to face Matt Harvey (2-0, 3.38 ERA) of the Mets. Kansas City has a 3-1 lead in the series. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Mets are favored at home tonight, as New York is getting odds of -140 to win, while the Royals are getting a money line of +130 to prevail. The over/under total for the game has been set at 7 runs.
The Royals put the Mets on the brink of elimination last night with a 5-3 win in Game 4. KC fell behind 2-0 in the game but rallied thanks to three runs in the eighth inning. The runs were aided by an error from the Mets and some timely hitting. Kansas City again had a strong bullpen effort, going five innings with one run allowed and just four hits given up. Salvador Perez had three hits to lead the Royals in the win. These two pitchers took the mound for Game 1, which was a KC win, 5-4 in 14 innings. Volquez pitched six innings, allowing three runs and six hits. Harvey also went six innings, allowing five hits and three runs.
