After a shaky first half of the season, the Indians really ran to the finish long in a strong way. Cleveland won 22 straight games at one point in the last month and that led them to the top record in the AL at 102-60. The Tribe had a +254 run differential this year with 818 runs scored and 564 allowed. The Indians are the defending AL champs and they are looking for their first World Series title since 1948. It would be their third all-time.
The Dodgers posted the best record in baseball behind a great first half. Los Angeles finished 104-58 this season with a +190 run differential. Los Angeles scored 770 runs while allowing 580. The Dodgers have won the World Series six times, last doing so in 1988.
The Houston Astros were 101-61 this season, winning the AL West while finishing a game behind Cleveland for the best record in the AL. The Astros have a +196 run differential this year with 896 runs scored and 700 allowed. Houston has never won the World Series.
The Nationals won the NL East this year with a 97-65 record. They will be the second seed in the NL playoffs. Washington has scored 819 runs while giving up 672 this year for a +147 differential. One concern for Washington is that ace Max Scherzer suffered a hamstring injury in his last start. The Nationals are looking to win their first World Series.
