New York Yankees DFS Notes
Aroldis Chapman was removed from a save chance as the Yankees hung on for a win against the Braves on Tuesday. Chapman was on to protect a two-run lead and yielded a one-out single to Adam Duvall before bouncing back with a strikeout to put a runner on first with two down. However, a walk and an infield single loaded the bases and then Chapman walked another to force in a run. Manager Aaron Boone decided that was enough and called up Wandy Peralta to face Freddie Freeman, who flied out to deep left field to end it. Chapman has now been scored upon in two of three outings since returning from an elbow injury. It’s obviously not ideal, but his velocity was fine Tuesday and it seems unlikely Boone will consider a demotion.
Oakland A’s DFS Notes
James Kaprielian allowed one run on three hits and four walks with four strikeouts over five innings in a 4-1 win against the Giants on Friday. Kaprielian pitched out of a couple jams early on in this one. He gave up back to back hits with two outs in the second inning before Wilmer Flores hit a hard liner to center field that looked like it would do some damage. Starling Marte saved a pair of runs with a terrific catch to get out of the inning. Kaprielian walked three straight batters with two outs in the third before another nice play by Marte in center ended the threat. The only run against the 27-year-old right-hander came on a solo homer by Mike Yastrzemski to lead off the fifth. Kaprielian has a 3.25 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 87 strikeouts over 88 2/3 innings. He’ll look to continue his strong rookie campaign with a start against the Yankees in Oakland next week.
