Yankees vs. Orioles Prediction

Can Yankees’ ace Masahiro Tanaka build off a strong start in his last outing when he faces the Orioles tonight at 7:05PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Yankees are -110 money line favorites versus the Orioles, who have odds of +100 to pull off the upset in Baltimore. With Tanaka set to face Kevin Gausman in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 9 runs.

From Rotoworld: Tanaka struck out a career-high 13 batters Friday against the Athletics, but took the loss after allowing one run in 7 1/3 innings. That’s more like it. Tanaka held the Athletics scoreless through seven innings before giving up a one-out single to Adam Rosales in the eighth. After Tyler Clippard entered the game, Rosales was eventually thrown out at home plate on a fielder’s choice by Rajai Davis. Davis came around to score later in the inning though, charging a run to Tanaka and putting him on the hook for the loss. It was a tough luck situation, but the Yankees and fantasy owners should feel very good about this performance. Tanaka gave up just five hits in all while walking none and inducing 26 swings and misses in his 111 pitches.

Gausman yielded two runs over 6 2/3 innings in a loss to the Astros on Friday. Gausman gave up solo shots to Jake Marisnick and Carlos Beltran. It was a strong outing on the whole, as he struck out a pair and walked none, but it was enough to put him on the losing side. Gausman still owns an ugly 6.17 ERA on the year, but he has allowed two earned runs or fewer in three out of his last four starts. He’s moving in the right direction, at least.

The Orioles, meanwhile, have dropped eight of nine overall, are 1-5 in their last six home games, and are 2-5 in their last seven games after allowing five runs or more in their previous game.
