Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he’s “probably” going with Gleyber Torres in the leadoff spot in Tuesday’s AL Wild Card Game against the Red Sox. Torres has hit third in each of the last three games and is the natural choice with DJ LeMahieu out of the mix. The 24-year-old comes into the playoffs hot, hitting .305/.367/.476 over his last 22 games.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Monday that he’ll likely start Kevin Plawecki at catcher and Christian Arroyo at second base for Tuesday’s Wild Card Game. Plawecki has worked well with Nathan Eovaldi and has also been a better hitter than Christian Vazquez this season. Kyle Higashioka will catcher Gerrit Cole as he usually does, so both clubs will be going with their backup catchers in the winner-take-all game. With Arroyo expected to handle second base, that means Enrique Hernandez figures to play center field. Alex Verdugo might be the odd man out in the outfield, assuming J.D. Martinez (ankle) is ready to play. Also of note is that Cora said Chris Sale is unlikely to be on the roster after starting Sunday’s game and Jarren Duran is likely to be on it as a pinch-runner/defensive replacement option.

Yankees vs. Red Sox Betting Prediction

On the other side, the Red Sox are 4-14 in their last 18 games as an underdog, are 1-5 in their last six games versus AL East rivals and are 1-6 in their last seven home games when facing an opponent with a winning record.
