TORONTO (AP) -The Toronto Blue Jays placed left-hander Gustavo Chacin on the 15-day disabled list Monday because of a strained left shoulder. The move is retroactive to Sunday.
Chacin started to feel pain as he was warming up for his scheduled bullpen session. He’ll travel with the team to Cleveland and will likely see a doctor sometime in the next few days.
“Today, during my bullpen, something in my shoulder was bothering me,” Chacin said. “We’re going to see tomorrow. It’s sore.”
Chacin is 2-1 with a 5.60 ERA in five starts this season. He gave up four runs and seven hits in 5 1-3 innings in his last start against Texas on Saturday.
The Blue Jays did not immediately call up a replacement for Chacin, and have not yet named a starter for Thursday’s game at Cleveland.
Chacin missed almost three months of the 2006 season because of elbow and forearm problems.
