CHICAGO (AP) -Chicago White Sox starter Mark Buehrle was forced out in the second inning of Thursday’s game against Cleveland after being hit with a liner off the bat of Ryan Garko.
It appeared the ball hit the left-handed Buehrle somewhere on his pitching arm. The ball ricocheted to the third base line where Buehrle went and picked it up. He did not make a throw.
Moments later, without even throwing a warmup pitch, Buehrle left the field and went to the dugout and then to the clubhouse.
Nick Masset came in to replace Buehrle, who went 1 1-3 innings.
