NEW YORK (AP) -Joe Torre’s older brother is scheduled to have a kidney transplant on Tuesday.
Frank Torre will receive the kidney from one of his daughters, Yankees manager Joe Torre said before Sunday’s game against Boston.
“He’s actually looking forward to it because he hasn’t been feeling all that strong, which is why you have to have this done,” Joe Torre said.
Frank Torre, who is 75, spent seven seasons with the Milwaukee Braves and Philadelphia Phillies from 1956-63. He had a heart transplant in October 1996 and watched from his hospital bed the following day as his brother managed the Yankees to a World Series title against Atlanta.
Joe Torre is 66.
