PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Freddy Garcia was activated from the disabled list and is scheduled to make his first start with the Phillies on Sunday against the Houston Astros.
Reliever Clay Condrey was designated for assignment to make room for Garcia, who missed his first two starts because of biceps tendinitis. A two-time All-Star, Garcia was acquired in a trade that sent right-hander Gavin Floyd and left-hander Gio Gonzalez to the Chicago White Sox.
Garcia was 17-9 with a 4.53 ERA for Chicago last season.
Condrey had a 2.25 ERA in three appearances this season.
