OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -Angels outfielder Vladimir Guerrero and second baseman Howie Kendrick flew back to Los Angeles on Wednesday to be examined by a hand specialist.
Guerrero left Monday’s game in Boston after getting hit on the right wrist by a pitch from Josh Beckett. X-rays were negative, but Guerrero continued to experience discomfort.
Kendrick was hit on the top of his left hand by a pitch from Oakland’s Chad Gaudin in the seventh inning Tuesday night. Kendrick is scheduled to undergo X-rays.
Guerrero leads the Angels with a .364 batting average, three homers and 12 RBIs in 13 games. Kendrick is hitting .327 with two homers and four RBIs.
Erick Aybar took over at second base for Kendrick on Wednesday against the Oakland Athletics, making his second start of the season.
