PHOENIX (AP) -Colorado first baseman Todd Helton drove in his 1,000th career run Friday night.
With two out in the fifth inning, Helton singled to left field off Brandon Webb to score John Mabry from second base. The RBI gave the Rockies a 3-1 lead.
Helton, a career .342 hitter against the Diamondbacks’ ace, also singled home a run in the third inning.
The 33-year-old Helton, in his 10th year with Colorado, is the Rockies’ leader in nearly all career hitting categories.
