HOUSTON (AP) -Astros right-hander Jason Jennings will miss at least two starts with tendinitis in his throwing elbow.
Jennings, (0-1, 3.00 ERA) had an MRI exam in Houston on Saturday and the exam revealed no ligament damage. The team said Jennings would be placed on the disabled list within the next week.
The 28-year-old Jennings was acquired in an offseason trade with Colorado to be the No. 2 starter in the Astros’ rotation. He made two starts this season before skipping his third, scheduled for Saturday, when his elbow flared up in Philadelphia.
Jennings gave up a run on five hits with seven strikeouts, but didn’t get a decision in the Astros’ 3-2 loss to Pittsburgh on April 3. He gave up three runs on five hits with five strikeouts in Houston’s 10-1 loss to St. Louis on April 8.
