MIAMI (AP) -Florida Marlins outfielder Cody Ross was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a strained left hamstring.
The Marlins recalled outfielder Eric Reed, who was optioned Friday to Triple-A Albuquerque but hadn’t left Miami yet.
Ross was hurt scoring on a double Saturday against San Diego and left the game.
“Right before I hit third, I felt it,” Ross said. “It kind of grabbed and something popped. It took all I had to get to home. My first thought was to go to the ground, but we needed that run.”
Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez said it’s uncertain whether Ross will be sidelined longer than two weeks. Ross was hitting .302 with four home runs in 53 at-bats as the Marlins’ fourth outfielder.
