NEW YORK (AP) -Lawyers from the staff of former Senate Majority leader George Mitchell and the commissioner’s office are scheduled to meet with the players’ association on Tuesday.
Mitchell wrote to the union last month, asking to interview active players as part of his investigation into steroids in baseball.
Michael Weiner, the union’s general counsel, said Friday that he did not expect Mitchell to attend the meeting.
Mitchell, hired by baseball commissioner Bud Selig in March 2006, said he hopes to complete his probe “in the coming months.”
