Phillies trade Revere to Blue Jays

PHILADELPHIA (AP) The Toronto Blue Jays have bolstered their offense by acquiring outfielder Ben Revere from the Philadelphia Phillies for two minor leaguers.
Revere is the latest player heading to the Blue Jays in a busy week in which they also obtained shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and ace left-hander David Price.
Philadelphia got right-handed pitchers Jimmy Cordero and Alberto Tirado for Revere. The rebuilding Phillies already traded closer Jonathan Papelbon to Washington and ace Cole Hamels to Texas.
Revere is batting .296 with 24 stolen bases. He gives the Blue Jays a leadoff hitter in a lineup filled with power bats.
The Blue Jays haven’t reached the postseason since beating the Phillies in the 1993 World Series. They entered Friday night’s game six games behind AL East-leading New York Yankees and two games back in the wild-card race.
