MILWAUKEE (AP) -Pirates reliever Matt Capps was ejected on Saturday night in the seventh inning of Pittsburgh’s game with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Capps had just allowed a three-run homer to J.J. Hardy when he hit Prince Fielder high on his right shoulder with a pitch. Home plate umpire Alfonso Marquez immediately ejected Capps, who came into the game 2-0 with a 0.59 ERA in 16 appearances.
Pirates manager Jim Tracy and center fielder Chris Duffy came in to argue the call, while several Brewers shouted from the top of the dugout.
Fielder looked initially dazed, but then smiled and stared as he walked toward first. He stayed in the game.
