BOSTON (AP) -The Boston Red Sox recalled left-hander Kason Gabbard from Triple-A to start Sunday against the Atlanta Braves and optioned him back to Pawtucket after the game.
Gabbard earned the victory with five-plus innings, allowing two runs, six hits and a walk while striking out a career-high seven.
Reliever Manny Delcarmen was called up from Pawtucket.
Gabbard was 3-1 with a 2.75 ERA in Pawtucket. He was 1-3 with a 3.51 ERA in seven games for the Red Sox last season.
Devern Hansack was sent back to Triple-A. He started Saturday night and took the loss, allowing three earned runs on six hits in four innings.
