DENVER (AP) -The Colorado Rockies optioned right-hander Ryan Speier to Triple-A Colorado Springs before Sunday’s game with the Atlanta Braves.
The Rockies filled the roster spot by recalling right-hander Denny Bautista from Colorado Springs.
Speier was 0-1 with a 15.43 ERA in three relief appearances with Colorado. He allowed at least one run in each of his outings.
Bautista has no record and a 3.52 ERA in eight appearances for Colorado Springs, all in relief. The 26-year-old has held opposing hitters to a .143 batting average.
“We’re trying to do some inventory right now,” Colorado manager Clint Hurdle said. “We want to get the best arms in that we can and right now we’ll look at Bautista for no more than an inning when he comes into games.
