CHICAGO (AP) -Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia was ejected in the seventh inning of Sunday’s game against the Chicago White Sox after arguing an unusual double play call.
The Angels had a 3-2 lead and runners on first and third and none out when Chicago’s David Aardsma relieved Mark Buehrle, and Orlando Cabrera lofted a fly toward the left-field line. Ryan Sweeney made a diving catch and Los Angeles’ Reggie Willits broke for home – too soon, apparently. What appeared to be a sacrifice fly turned into a double play when Joe Crede took the throw from Sweeney and stepped on third.
Scioscia argued vehemently, got ejected by plate umpire Adam Dowd and came out of the dugout to argue some more before leaving.
