BALTIMORE (AP) -The Toronto Blue Jays optioned rookie right-hander Jamie Vermilyea to Triple-A Syracuse and recalled left-hander Brian Tallet after Sunday’s 7-3 loss at Baltimore.
Vemilyea made his major league debut Sunday, coming out of the bullpen to throw three shutout innings. He struck out one, walked none and allowed three hits.
Vermilyea was recalled on April 15 when closer B.J. Ryan (elbow) was placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Through Saturday, Tallet had a 1.35 ERA in seven relief appearances spanning 6 2-3 innings for the Chiefs. Tallet, who was 3-0 in 44 appearances for the Blue Jays in 2006, was sent outright to Syracuse on March 29.
