Twins’ Cuddyer leaves game in fifth inning

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Minnesota Twins cleanup hitter Michael Cuddyer left Wednesday night’s game against Baltimore in the fifth inning with a cut on his chin that required stitches.
Cuddyer fouled a ball off that bounced in the dirt and caught him in the chin during his at-bat in the fourth inning. Cuddyer shrugged it off and singled off Jeremy Guthrie for his third hit of the game, but was replaced by Jason Tyner in right field in the top of the fifth.
Coming off a career season in which he had 24 homers and 109 RBIs, Cuddyer got off to a bit of a slow start in the first two games this season, going just 1-for-8. But he rebounded Wednesday night with three singles and two RBIs.
The Twins are off Thursday and open a three-game series in Chicago against the White Sox on Friday. Cuddyer received stitches in the Twins clubhouse and will likely be available this weekend.
