LOS ANGELES (AP) Vin Scully is expected to miss the Los Angeles Dodgers’ final regular-season series because of a cold.
The team said Friday that the Hall of Fame broadcaster is sick and likely won’t be in the booth for the three-game series against San Diego that ends Sunday.
Scully, who turns 88 in November, missed the team’s four-game trip to San Francisco earlier this week, an absence that had been planned in advance.
In August, Scully said he expected 2016 would be his last season calling games for the Dodgers, which would mark the end of his record 67-year tenure with the same franchise.
The Dodgers, the NL West champions for the third straight year, will face the New York Mets in the NLDS. The best-of-five series starts Friday with the site to be determined.
