Johnson wins again
Jimmie Johnson picked up an important win on Sunday, as he took home the checker flag in the 2009 Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500.
Johnson led 238 of 312 laps to get his seventh win of the 2009 season. Johnson now pushes his lead in the Sprint Cup Standings to 108 points over Mark Martin with one race remaining this year.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, Johnson had odds of 4/1 to win the race before the event, meaning a $100 bet on Johnson to win will pay out $400.
Martin finished fourth in Sunday’s race, but didn’t lead a lap to earn an extra five points.
Jeff Burton finished second to Johnson on Sunday while Denny Hamlin was third, and pole sitter Martin Truex Jr. was fifth.
Kurt Busch led the second-most amount of laps, leading 69 of the 312 laps, but finished sixth on the day.
