Dickies 500 Results
Kurt Busch scored big for bettors on Sunday when he won the 2009 Dickies 500 from Texas Motor Speedway.
In his victory, the elder Busch denied his younger brother Kyle a shot at history. Kyle had won Friday and Saturday’s NASCAR races and was trying to become the first driver to sweep all three national series races in the same weekend. But his bid came up short as he finished 11th today.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com listed Kurt Busch’s odds to win the 2009 Dickies 500 at 15/1, which means for every $100 waged on Kurt, bettors would have taken home $1,500. Entering the race, Kurt took a backseat to Jimmie Johnson at 4/1, Jeff Gordon at 5/1, Mark Martin at 7/1, Tony Stewart at 7/1 and Carl Edwards at 10/1.
Speaking of Johnson, he was involved in a car wreck on Lap 2, but was able to return to the track after more than an hour’s worth of repairs were done to his vehicle. Unfortunately, the delay cost him as he finished 38th on the day.
Denny Hamlin finished second, while Matt Kenseth finished third. Kenseth’s finish was quite remarkable given that he started 30th. Oddsmakers made Hamlin’s odds to win 15/1 after the pole positions had been set, while Kenseth was part of the Field at 200/1 because of his starting position.
