Kahne gets big win
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series held the 2009 Pep Boys Auto 500 Sunday night, and Kasey Kahne picked up his second victory of the 2009 season.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, Kahne had odds of 20/1 to win the race before the event, meaning a $100 bet on Kahne to win will pay out $2000.
Kahne took the lead on the 315th lap and then held off Kevin Harvick and the rest of the field to get the victory. The win propelled Kahne from 11th in the Nextel Cup Standings to sixth place with just one race remaining before the Chase for the Championship.
Harvick finished second on Sunday for his best finish since the Daytona 500 back in February.
Juan Pablo Montoya finished third to jump to eighth in the points standings.
Brian Vickers took seventh on Sunday, which pushed him to 13th in the standings, one slot outside the chase. Vickers is 20 points behind Matt Kenseth for the final spot heading into next Saturday’s Chevy Rock and Roll 400.
Pre-race favorite Jimmie Johnson finished 36th on the night after opening with 4/1 odds to win.
