Johnson takes the lead
Jimmie Johnson picked up a big victory on Sunday, winning the 2009 Pepsi 500 from Auto Club Speedway to move into first place in the Sprint Cup Standings.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, Johnson had odds of 7/2 to win the race before the event, meaning a $100 bet on Johnson to win will pay out $350.
With Sunday’s win, Johnson now leads the points standings by 12 points over Mark Martin, who finished fourth. Johnson led just over half the race, leading 126 of 250 laps.
Jeff Gordon finished in second play on Sunday to jump two spots in the standings to fifth place. Gordon is 105 points behind Johnson.
Juan Pablo Montoya finished third to keep his hold on third place in the standings, 58 points behind Johnson.
Tony Stewart rounded out the top five and remains in fourth in the points standings, 84 points behind Johnson.
