Harvick wins Shootout
In the start of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup season, Kevin Harvick won his second-straight Budweiser Shootout Saturday night from Daytona International Speedway.
Saturday’s race was just an exhibition, but it still delivers a sizeable amount of money for Harvick and gives him momentum heading into next Sunday’s Daytona 500.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com gave Harvick 12/1 odds to win the Budweiser Shootout 400, which means a $100 wager placed on Harvick paid out $1,200.
Harvick entered the race under the weather and had been unable to practice all week, but that didn’t show in his performance. Harvick was in fourth place with two laps to go when the race went to green-flag racing. Harvick quickly jumped to the front and passed Greg Biffle to take the lead. A wreck ensued between Biffle and Jeff Gordon, and Harvick was able to get the win soon after.
Kasey Kahne, Jamie McMurray, Kyle Busch, and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top five Saturday.
