Hamlin still leads
Denny Hamlin didn’t get a win on Sunday, be he held on to his leads in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Standings by taking 12th in the Kobalt Tools 500.
The winner of the event was Carl Edwards, who led 93 of 312 laps to get his first win of the year.
Oddsmakers from online sportsbook SBGLOBAL gave Edwards 20/1 odds to win the race, meaning a $100 bet on Edwards will pay out an additional $2,000.
With Hamlin taking 12th on Sunday and Jimmie Johnson finishing fifth, Hamlin leads Johnson by 15 points with one race remaining in the season. Kevin Harvick is also in contention, as he is 46 points out of the lead after finishing sixth on Sunday.
Hamlin led 190 laps on the day, but a late pit stop for fuel pushed him back and cost him from building on his points lead. Johnson is the four-time defending series champion.
