Busch wins in Atlanta
After taking the pole last week, Kurt Busch was up front again this weekend, but this time it was when it counted as he won Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 500 from Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com gave Busch 12/1 odds to win Sunday’s race, meaning a bet of $100 on Busch will pay out $1,200.
Busch led 129 of 341 laps to win for the second-straight year in Atlanta. The race went an extra 16 laps due to late cautions that forced NASCAR to attempt numerous green-white-checkered finishes.
Busch held off late surges by Juan Pablo Montoya, Kasey Kahne, and Matt Kenseth to get the win. Kenseth landed in second while Montoya took third and Kahne was fourth.
Paul Menard finished fifth to round out the top five and Brad Keselowski seemed to be on his way to a sixth-place finish, but the young driver was wrecked by Carl Edwards late in the race. Edwards was 156 laps off the lead lap due to an earlier crash that was caused by Keselowski.
Pre-race favorite, Jimmie Johnson, finished 12th on Sunday.
