Aaron’s 499 Picks
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to one of its most famous tracks on Sunday for the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway.
While most drivers will say they don’t care for this type of racing, every NASCAR fan loves NASCAR races at Talladega.
Bet 2010 Aaron’s 499 Odds
At Talladega you have to forget about trying to handicap the race and go with those drivers who have proven they can race on the plate tracks. Winning at Talladega not only takes knowing how to plate race, but also lots of luck.
One thing to pay close attention to this week is that all of the Ford cars will have the new FR9 engine, which looked good at Daytona during Speedweek.
Kurt Busch 15/1
We have said many times that Kurt Busch is one of the best when it comes to plate racing and certainly the best plate racer never to win a race of the similar name. Ever since Steve Addington came on board, you can’t help but notice that this team has been running upfront week after week no matter the track. That should help keep Busch out of trouble when the “big one” hits this weekend. While Daytona has always been his best plate track, we think that this could be the week Busch breaks through for his first plate track win.
Live Longshot
Kasey Kahne 15/1
We thought Kasey Kahne was the car to beat at Daytona thanks to the FR9 engine, but unfortunately he did not use it. However, his teammate ran with it and was in contention the entire race. One thing Kahne and his entire team has lacked this year is speed, and with this new engine they should be back up front and in contention.
Any of the Ford’s will be worth a look this week and since this track always seems to produce an upset, don’t be surprised if this race leaves you scratching your head after it’s over.
