Duels Race 2 Odds
The field for the Daytona 500 will be filled out Thursday when NASCAR hosts the 2010 Gatorade Duels from Daytona International Speedway.
In the Duels, two races are held that takes all those that competed in qualifying and splits them in half. The first race will determine the race order in the left side of the starting grid while the second race determines the starting order on the right side. No matter the outcome of the races, Mark Martin will start first and Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start second. Race one will determine who starts third, fifth, etc. while the second race determines who starts fourth, sixth, etc.
In race number two, Tony Stewart is favored to win.
Stewart has odds of 5/1 to win according to oddsmakers at the online sports book Sportsbook.com. Other short odds to win are Earnhardt Jr. (11/2), Kasey Kahne (8/1), and Kurt Busch (8/1).
Stewart has won the duels on two occasions. Stewart has not won the Daytona 500 but he has three wins in 22 career starts on this track. He also has finished in the top five seven times at Daytona in his career.
Earnhardt Jr. is a two-time duels winner and he won the 2004 Daytona 500. He has raced on the track 20 times, winning twice in his career along with six top-five finishes.
Kahne doesn’t have a victory in the duels and in 12 career races at Daytona, he has just four top-10 finishes with no victories or top-5 finishes.
Kurt Busch has raced 18 times at Daytona and doesn’t have a win in his career, including the duel races. He does have nine-top five finishes there.
