Sadler wins the pole
Elliott Sadler hasn’t had much to smile about in 2010, but the driver had a smile on Friday as he won the pole in qualifying for the AAA Texas 500.
Sadler will start up front for Sunday’s race but points leader, Jimmie Johnson, is favored to win and has 3/1 odds according to oddsmakers at the online sports book Sportsbook.com. Other short odds to win are Carl Edwards (9/2), Kyle Busch (9/2), and Greg Biffle (13/2).
Johnson won this race in 2007 and he has an average finish of 10.1 at Texas Motor Speedway while having a driver rating of 99.0. Johnson leads Denny Hamlin by 14 points in the standings. He has six wins and 15 top 5’s on the season. Johnson will start 17th on Sunday.
Edwards qualified third for Sunday’s race. He is sixth in the current standings and winless on the year, but he has three wins at Texas with an average finish of 17.5 and a driver rating of 97.8.
Busch is fifth in the standings, 230 point out of first. Busch has three wins this year with 10 top 5’s. Busch has never won at Texas and has an average finish of 14.7 and a driver rating of 98.3. He will start 29th on Sunday.
Biffle finished second in qualifying on Friday. He has two wins on the year and is 11th in the current standings. Biffle has one win in his career at Texas and an average finish of 20.1 with a driver rating of 95.5.
