Carl Edwards Takes The Pole
Seeking his first win of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season, Carl Edwards set himself up well by winning the pole for Saturday night’s Air Guard 400.
Edwards now has 10/1 odds to win, but Denny Hamlin is the favorite to win this race with 3/1 odds to win according to oddsmakers at the online sports book BroburySports.com. Other short odds to win are Jimmie Johnson (6/1), Kyle Busch (8/1), and Clint Bowyer (8/1).
Busch opened as the favorite to win but he has not won this event but he does have three wins in 2010 and two wins on this track. Busch has an average finish of 5.5 here while his driver rating is 114.1. He is currently third in the point standings, 260 behind leader Kevin Harvick. Busch qualified in 32nd place for the race.
Hamlin is the defending champion of this race. He has five wins in 2010 and is 10th in the standings. Hamlin has just the one win on his track and his average finish is 8.8 while his driver rating is best in the series at 117.4. Hamlin will start 14th on Saturday.

Bowyer is in the 12th and final spot in the Chase for the Championship, leading 13th-place driver, Ryan Newman by 117 points with one race to go. Bowyer has not won this year and has 13 top 10’s. Bowyer has one win in his career at Richmond with an average finish of 10.2 and a driver rating of 93.7. Bowyer will start fourth on Saturday night.
