Logano takes the pole
The 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has its lineup set for the Food City 500 on Sunday and Joey Logano will be leading the way.
Logano won the pole in Friday’s qualifying while Kurt Busch finished second. Busch is now among one of three favorites to win the race.
Kurt Busch has 5/1 odds win the race according to odds makers at the
online sports book Sportsbook.com He joins Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch as the favorites while Jeff Gordon has 8/1 odds to win. Logano has been given 20/1 odds to win.
Busch has won five races at Bristol Motor Speedway and he also has 10 top 10s. His average finish on he track is 13.8 and his driver rating is 91.7, which ranks ninth in the series. Busch is currently 10th in the point standings as he has one win already this season, which came in the Kobalt Tools 500. Busch has finished in the top six in three races and outside of the top 20 in the other three.
Johnson has never won this event or on this track. He has three top 5s and eight top 10s. His average finish is 15.9 while his driver rating is 82.5, which doesn’t rank among the top 10 in the series. Johnson is fourth in the standings, 74 points behind leader Kevin Harvick. Johnson will start fourth on Sunday.
Kyle Busch has won two of the last three Food City 500 events. Busch has three career wins on this track along with seven top 10s. Busch has an average finish of 10.2 on this track and a driver rating of 105.6, which ranks second among active drivers. Busch is currently 15th in the Sprint Cup standings, 176 points behind Harvick. Kyle will start 38th on Sunday.
Gordon has won this event four times, as he took the checkered flag in 1995-98. Gordon has five career wins on this track with 14 top 5s and 20 top 10s. His average finish is 11.6 while his driver rating is 100.1, which is third best in the series. Gordon is 11th in the standings, 162 points behind Harvick. Gordon will start fifth on Sunday.
Longshot, Marcos Ambrose actually has the top driver rating at this track at 108.2 while his average finish is also tops at 6.5. Ambrose has 40/1 odds to win. He will start ninth on Sunday.
