McMurray to start up front
Jamie McMurray was fastest in qualifying on Friday for the 2010 Pepsi MAX 400, and he will lead the pack in Sunday’s race.
Jimmie Johnson qualified eighth on Friday and is the favorite to win the race with 2/1 odds to win according to oddsmakers at the online sports book Sportsbook.com. Other short odds to win are Greg Biffle (6/1) and Matt Kenseth (8/1).
Johnson leads Denny Hamlin by 35 points in the standings. He has six wins on the year, tied for the most of any driver. At Auto Club Speedway, Johnson has five wins with an average finish of 5.5 and a driver rating of 124.0, best of any active driver.
Biffle sits eighth in the standings with two wins on the year. He has never won in this track and has an average driver rating of 86.7 with an average finish of 16.7. Biffle will start seventh in Sunday’s race.
Kenseth qualified third on Friday. He is 11th in the point standings with five top 5’s on the year. At this track, Kenseth has three wins in his career and his average finish is 9.1 and his driver rating is 108.3, which is second only to Johnson in the series.
