Samsung 500 Picks
After a few weeks of short track racing, NASCAR returns to one of fastest tracks on the schedule for the 2010 Samsung Mobile 500 from Texas Motor Speedway.
Texas Motor Speedway is one of the fastest “cookie cutter” tracks thanks to it’s 24 degrees of banking, which separates it from similar tracks of the same ilk.
This will be the first week that the new spoiler will make a difference on the COT car, so look for drivers that did well at Charlotte a few weeks ago. Texas has provided a few upsets over the years and could very well provide us with a driver who has yet to win in 2010, or even a driver who hasn’t won in some time.
Matt Kenseth 12/1
Matt Kenseth has shown a real fondness for Texas Motor Speedway over the years and with the way his team has looked so far, he is our favorite to win this week. In his last eight races at Texas, Kenseth has only finished outside of the top 10 once, with five top fives. In what looks like a wide-open race, we will go with the most consistent driver at a very nice price.
Kyle Busch 10/1
Kyle Busch has always been a fast starter over the years, up until this season that is. But the last few weeks, he and his team have seemed to be jelling. Though Busch doesn’t have a favorable history at Texas, we think he’ll have something to prove after last week’s pit road mistake, which cost him a win.
Live Longshot
Jeff Burton 18/1
Jeff Burton and the other cars from RCR have been some of the best each and every week, no matter what type of track they’ve been on. Jeff Burton has been very good here and has two wins to show for it. Even in last year’s down year for RCR, he had two very good races at Texas.
