Hamlin Favored To Win The Cup
One race remains in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and three drivers are contending for the season championship. Which driver has the best odds to win?
Denny Hamlin, the points leader, is the favorite to win the title according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BroburySports.com. Hamlin has 5/12 odds to win while Jimmie Johnson has 3/2 odds and Kevin Harvick has 7/1 odds to win.
Hamlin is 15 points ahead of Johnson and 46 points ahead of Harvick heading into Sunday’s Ford 400 from Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Hamlin has the most options to win the title as he is in the lead. He can clinch the title if he wins Sunday’s race or if Johnson wins the race but Hamlin finishes second and leads a lap or finishes third and leads the most laps.
Hamlin can finish no more than three spots behind Johnson and eight spots behind Harvick to win without factoring in bonus points.
Johnson can win the title if he wins and Hamlin finishes second or third but doesn’t lead a lap. Johnson needs to be within five spots of Harvick and at least three spots ahead of Hamlin on Sunday.
Harvick probably needs to win as he has to finish eight spots ahead of Hamlin and five spots ahead of Johnson.
Hamlin is the only driver of the three contenders to have won at Homestead, as he won last year’s race.
