Johnson makes it 5 straight
Jimmie Johnson found a way to do it again as he added a fifth-straight NASCAR Sprint Cup title to his career winnings list on Sunday by placing second in the Ford 400.
His finish combined with a 14th-place finish from Denny Hamlin and a third-place finish from Kevin Harvick gave Johnson the season title by 34 points over Hamlin.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com gave Johnson 5/2 odds to win the season title once again, meaning a $100 bet on Johnson will pay out an additional $250.
Johnson managed to stay out of trouble and lead a lap to help secure the win as he was down by 15 points to Hamlin for the title entering the race. Hamlin was involved in a minor accident during the race which put him in the middle of the pack most of the day.
Carl Edwards got the win in Sunday’s race. He had 8/1 odds to win the race and will have a $800 payout for any $100 bets placed on him to win.
