Hamlin toughs it out
On a bad knee and all, Denny Hamlin prevailed as the winner of the 2010 Samsung
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com gave Hamlin 15/1 odds to win Monday’s race, meaning a bet of $100 on Hamlin will pay out $1,500.
Hamlin wasn’t in contention until late in the race when a crash set up a final sprint to the finish with 12 laps remaining. That is where Hamlin got to the front and held off Jimmie Johnson for the victory. Johnson finished second.
It was Hamlin second win in his last three races and pushes Hamlin up seven spots in the standings to 11th place, 275 points behind Johnson for the lead.
Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, and Kasey Kahne rounded out the top five.
The big crash included Jeff Gordon, who led 124 laps of the race, and pole sitter Tony Stewart, who had 8/1 odds after finishing first in Friday’s qualifying.
