Kenseth to start up front
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – Matt Kenseth finds himself up front for Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 400 as he won qualifying on Friday for this NASCAR Sprint Cup race.
Like last week, a new qualifying record was set by the pole sitter as Kenseth finished with 188.884 mph. This is the fifth pole in his career.
Kenseth now has 8/1 odds to win Sunday’s race according to oddsmakers at online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, while Carl Edwards is the favorite with 9/2 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Kyle Busch (5/1) and Jimmie Johnson (6/1).
Kenseth has two wins at Vegas in his career along with five top 5’s and six top 10’s. His average finish at the track is 11.7 and his driver rating is 95.6, which ranks eighth.
Edwards will start third on Sunday. He has one win at Las Vegas with an average finish of 12.7 and a driver rating of 92.2.
Busch will start fifth on Sunday. He holds one win in his career at Vegas. His average finish on the track is 11.7 and his driver rating is 108.0, which is third best of any driver in the series.
Johnson qualified 14th for Sunday’s race. He holds four wins on this track and has an average finish of 10.0 with a driver rating of 116.4, which ranks second in the series.
