Johnson vs. Hamlin Odds
AVONDALE, AZ (TheSpread) – Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin are always two of the top contenders in any NASCAR race, but which one will fair better in Sunday’s Subway Fresh Fit 500?
According to oddsmakers at online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com Hamlin is the favorite to have a better showing on Sunday as he has odds of -145 while Johnson comes in at +115.
Hamlin will start 12th in the race but he has never won on this track and his average finish is 11.6. He does have five top 5’s in his career at Phoenix but his driver rating is 98.6, which ranks sixth among active drivers.
Johnson didn’t qualify well and he will start 28th on Sunday, but he has done very well in his career at Phoenix. He holds four wins and 10 top 5’s there and has an average finish of 5.1 and a driver rating of 122.6, both of which are best in the series.
I am quite surprised to see Johnson such an underdog in this matchup. He really has everything on his side. While he may be starting from more toward the back, it will be easy to make up that ground in a 500-mile race. If you are looking for a good payout, I think Johnson is the place to go with your money here.
