FORT WORTH, TX (TheSpread) – Jimmie Johnson can’t win a championship, but he was able to win the AAA Texas 500 on Sunday.

Jeff Gordon was leading near the end of the race, but was contacted by Brad Keselowski. That led to a green-white-checkered finish, which Johnson was able to hold off Keselowski and Kevin Harvick for the win.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Johnson had 715/1 odds to win this race coming into the week, which means a wager of $100 on him to win will pay out an additional $700.

The wreck really hurt Gordon, as he ended up 29th and is now in the fourth position in the standings, 1 point ahead of Matt Kenseth for the final spot in the final race with one qualifying race remaining. Keselowski is 5 points back of Gordon while Harvick is 6 points back. Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin are tied for the lead entering the final race and have a 13-point lead on the final qualifying spot. Any of the eight drivers can win next week and automatically qualify for the final race.
