GEICO 500 Free Picks

TALLADEGA, AL (ATS CONSULTANTS) – Desperation is the key word when it comes to the GEICO 500 today. Here what driver’s desperation could turn into a victory.

View Current NASCAR Odds

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is favored to win the race, as he has 7/1 odds while Jimmie Johnson comes in with 9/1 odds. Six other drivers have been given 12/1 odds.

Here are some drivers we like today:

Dale Earnhardt Jr. 7/1

Dale Jr. is in a must-win situation today with this being the final race in the Chase before the field is cut from 12 to 8 drivers. He is currently tied for last, 26 points out of the final slot. However, he is coming to a very fast track, where he is at his best. Jr. is a five-time winner at Talladega with an average finish of 15.0 and a driver rating of 90.3. He will start 28th, but expect him to be very aggressive and do all he can to win today.

Jimmie Johnson 9/1

Johnson is in the same boat as Earnhardt Jr., as he is tied with him for last in the standings among the Chase drivers. Johnson qualified second and he is a two-time winner at Talladega, with an average finish of 17.2 and a driver rating of 85.9. It seems odd to think that Johnson would be out of the championship mix after today, so look for him to pull out all the stops as well. He should be right in the mix at the end of the race.
