GEICO 500 Predictions
The NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series holds one of its fastest races of the year today in the GEICO 500. Here are three drivers we think will contend for the victory.
According to the latest oddsmakers at YouWager, Brad Keselowski is the favorite for Sunday’s race, as he has 11/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Denny Hamlin (15/2), Joey Logano (8/1) and Kevin Harvick (10/1). The GEICO 500 takes place on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 2PM ET from Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama. The race will air live on FOX.
Brad Keselowski 11/2
Keselowski feels very comfortable at Talladega. He has won five times at the track over 18 races in his career. His average finish here is 14.1, while his driver rating is 89.0. While that rating isn’t terribly high, it ranks second-best in the field today. The 2018 season hasn’t been great for Keslowski, as he has four finishes outside the top 10, but I just think that makes him more focused today. He knows this is a track where he can get that all-important win and spot in the postseason.
Joey Logano 10/1
Joey Logano is a two-time winner at this track. While both wins have been in the fall race, he still has an 85.6 driver rating overall at Talladega. This particular race hasn’t been good to him, but he has shown a lot of consistency this year with eight top-10 finishes. If he can avoid the big wreck and not have car trouble, I see him being a top contender for the win today.
Clint Bowyer 25/1
Bowyer is a real longshot today, but I think he has very good value at 25/1. He has two wins at Talladega already in his career and an average finish of 15.5 there, which ranks among the better side of the field. Bowyer is off to one of his best starts of his career, with one win and six top-10 finishes in nine races. He has yet to finish outside the top 20 in any of them. Now he comes to a track where he has been pretty good. I think the odds are far bigger for him than they should be.
