A.J. Allmendinger wins pole for Cheez-It 355 at The Glen, now 4/1 favorite

Allmendinger wins pole

WATKINS GLEN, NY (TheSpread) – A.J. Allmendinger helped his chances at winning the Cheez-It 355 on Saturday by being in fastest in qualifying and taking the pole.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Allmendinger now has 4/1 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Kevin Harvick (5/1) and Kyle Busch (6/1). The Cheez-It 355 at The Glen takes place on Sunday, Aug. 9 at 2:18PM ET from Watkins Glen International.

Allmendinger is the defending champion of this race and considered a road-course specialist. Allmendinger is 23rd in the point standings, 320 points out of first. He is winless this year and is seeking his first top 5 in 2015 as well.

Harvick qualified fourth for this race. He comes into today as the points leader by 46 on the field and he has two wins and 14 top 5s this year. Harvick won this race back in 2006. He finished fourth at the other road race this year.

Kyle Busch has won this race two times, lasting doing so in 2013. Kyle is currently 32nd in the point standings, 462 points out of first. He needs to crack the top 30 to make the Chase this year, despite having four wins. He is currently 11 points out of 30th place. Busch will start eighth in this race.
